Kremlin Rexson Equipment Reduces Color Change Time from 20 Minutes to 2.5 Minutes

Radtech Innovation Inc. is located in Quebec, Canada and they manufacture snow removal and farm equipment. They are a current customer of Kremlin Rexson application equipment.

Radtech worked with Kremlin Rexson because they had a goal to reduce their color change time during their painting application process. Presently, it took them approximately 20 minutes to complete a color change.

Their current process needed to be changed to decrease the amount of time needed for a color change. They also wanted to reduce solvent consumption and double their production in the upcoming years.

Radtech discovered that the paint shop was the "bottle neck" to their impeding progress.
Radtech currently finishes the equipment using a hand spraying method and a floor conveyor. They use Polyurethane Paint in (6) standard colors and a few custom colors. They wanted to be able to change the colors very quickly and generate reports showing the consumption of the paint.

Their current equipment consisted of (3) PU2200 systems using KMX3 Electrostatic guns. In order to achieve their production goals, Kremlin Rexson determined Radtech should upgrade their equipment to the equipment listed below:

• (3) Cyclomix Experts™ (7) colors + 1 catalyst: (2) Standard Experts and (1) with a Gun Management and Remote Control Panel
• (6) Kremlin 40-50F Flowmax® Pumps with 55 Gallon Agitator & Elevator
• (1) Kremlin 40-50F Flowmax® Pump with Desiccant Air Dryer Kit for 55 Gallon Drum
• (1) Kremlin 20-25 Flush Piston Pump
• (6) Airmix® Goldtop™ Regulators
• (4) Airmix® Remote Fluid Regulators
• KMX3 Electrostatic Guns
• AODD ½ inch pump for transfer

The goal of the new equipment was to make the process more efficient, reduce color change time, and increase productivity.

With the new Kremlin Rexson equipment and process, a color change takes 2.5 minutes from start to finish. That is a vast improvement over taking 20 minutes for a color change---the new equipment now saves them 17.5 minutes. The colors are always ready to use and no manual process is needed. Radtech has been able to reduce their solvent consumption, as well.

With the Cyclomix Expert™ system, they have the capability to use 1 or 2 guns. The Cyclomix Expert™ is programmed using various recipes. There is also the possibility of network reporting to be implemented.

Thanks to the new Kremlin Rexson application equipment, the paint shop is no longer the "Bottleneck" of this operation!

Radtech commented on the installation of their new equipment by stating, "Production increased a lot and at first, the painters were not very happy about our system, but, as the engineer in charge said, "Management loves it"!
